Floating Land - Fiona Chandler & Sarah Montgomery
“Our first chat was two hours long, full of ideas and inspiration. Our practice had developed along similar lines - a printmaker and a painter. Grounded in nature, decay, seed pods, land and sea. Fellow artists thought we were already connected, possibly shared a studio. We piled up our sketches, drawings, paintings and prints, our inky ideas sat well together, we were eager to share them. A fast tumble of ideas flew, artworks were produced. Endless cups of tea, chocolate and more art. The collection grew organically, enduring late nights with enthusiasm. We pushed each other and found common ground as we created artworks for the Floating Land show.”
Our purpose is to share a sense of wonder, looking up and into the distance. Recording intricate details and natural patterns gathered in clouds, on land and in water. The artworks encourage people to look closely at the everyday in their environment. These Images work from afar but the closer you step, the more you see of the natural patterns found in nature, describing our days observations as artists.
Floating lands, a sense of wonder - discovering and creating.
