Chris de Hoog is an artist living and working on Wadawurrung Country (Geelong, Victoria). Chris’ work is inspired by the natural world, memory, and colour. His artistic process begins by making intuitive marks on the material (often using leftover paint from a previous piece) and letting that determine the direction of the work. This is followed by a process of refinement and covering up/removing aspects to bring out something new. He rarely paints from a source such as a photograph, as he finds his inherent perfectionism gets in the way of creating something truly expressive.

Chris was born in Canberra, Australia in 1986. He obtained a Bachelor of Design (Communication Design) from RMIT University in 2009. He has been a practising artist since 2018, exhibiting all over Australia.

Chris’ work is regularly bold and colourful, with the colour pink featuring substantially. He is fond of pink; at one of its spectrum the colour can be natural and dusty, while at the other end it can be bright and attention-grabbing. Of course, it all depends on the colours placed beside and around it. With his series for this exhibition, Chris has enjoyed exploring the different nuances of the colour, in his ‘ode to pink’.

We charge a flat rate of $35 for all artworks within Australia, with an additional $5 added for each extra artwork purchased through our online store. All artworks are insured and come safely packaged. Any artwork marked for CUSTOM SHIPPING is either too large, too heavy or too delicate to ship with our flat rate and will need a custom shipping invoice.
