About The Corner Store Gallery
Since its establishment in 2014, The Corner Store Gallery has been a beacon of creativity in Orange (Wiradjuri Country), one of NSW’s premier food and wine destinations. Independently run and passionately curated, our space is dedicated to nurturing both emerging and established artists and designers across a rich spectrum of creative mediums.
At The Corner Store Gallery, we believe in the power of art and creativity to enrich lives and build communities. Through a diverse array of exhibitions, workshops, pop-ups, and community events, we provide a dynamic platform for artists to showcase their work and connect with audiences from near and far.
Situated within the vibrant cultural community of Orange, our gallery is a vital hub for creativity and innovation. Join us as we continue to support and celebrate the diverse voices and talents that shape our creative landscape.
Acknowledgement: The Corner Store Gallery acknowledges the Wiradjuri people, Traditional Custodians of the Country on which we live, work and play. We recognise their continued connection to the mountains and streams of this beautiful place, and thank them for protecting its important, unique ecosystems since time immemorial. We acknowledge that they never ceded sovereignty and pay our respects to all Wiradjuri Elders past and present, and extend that respect to all First Nations people.
About the Gallery Director
Madeline Young's journey into the world of art has been deeply rooted in her upbringing in regional Australia. Growing up amidst the inspiring landscapes of Orange, NSW, Madeline discovered solace and inspiration in artistic expression from a young age.
Her passion for art led her to pursue a degree in Fine Arts at the University of Newcastle, where she honed her skills and nurtured her creative vision. Before completing her studies, Madeline embarked on a transformative journey, traveling to the U.S. to teach art classes at summer camps—an experience that broadened her perspective and fuelled her love for sharing the joy of art with others.
Upon returning to Orange, Madeline took on the role of Artist in Residence at Kinross Wolaroi School from 2011 to 2014, further immersing herself in the local artistic community.
In 2014, Madeline's dream of creating a space where artists and designers could thrive became a reality with the founding of The Corner Store Gallery. Since then, she has poured her heart and soul into managing and curating exhibitions and events, tirelessly promoting, connecting, and supporting fellow creatives through her work at the gallery.
For Madeline, The Corner Store Gallery is not just a place of business—it's a labour of love, a source of creativity and inspiration that fuels her own artistic practice. Through her dedication and passion, she continues to make a profound impact on the arts community, both in Orange and beyond.
