“FARMYARD TALES & FABLES” have intrigued Cat throughout her life, particularly Grimm’s Tales and Aesops fables with their use of animals as an educative tool to portray worldly wisdom and moral advice. Growing up on a sheep and cattle property at Bakers Swamp, she has always been intricately linked with animals, including her early years practicing as a veterinarian. She has spent most of her life surrounded by animals and currently lives on a small farm with her menagerie of chickens, ducks, cats, dogs, goats, sheep, cattle and alpaca. It is from these animal companions she draws her inspiration, particularly her beloved goat “Sully”.
This exhibition includes a combination of different media, including oil paintings, lino prints and monoprints within the common theme of farmyard tales and fables. Cat has a natural organic narrative style. Cat has recently completed her Diploma and Advanced Diploma of Visual Arts at Orange TAFE, and is currently the artist in residence at Orange TAFE focussing on printmaking. This is her first solo exhibition at the Corner Store Gallery and she hopes you enjoy her journey.
