Libby Moore is an Australian artist celebrated for her colourful, modern still life paintings, which highlight the beauty of ceramics and coloured glassware. Her work delves into the fascinating interplay of light, shadow, and form, transforming everyday objects into vibrant, contemporary compositions. Inspired by the shapes and textures of her subjects, Moore brings a fresh perspective to traditional still life, focusing on the relationships between objects and the abstract forms created by reflections and shadows. Through her art, she seeks to evoke emotion and invite viewers into a world of dynamic visual narratives.
After studying graphic design, Moore transitioned to painting while raising her four children in her north-western Sydney home studio. She works primarily with acrylic paint and draws inspiration from her printmaking background at the National Art School (BFA, 2024). Her ongoing fascination with shapely vessels reflects both a reverence for the female form and a commitment to being a plausible role model for her family.
Moore’s work has been recognised in the Australian art community, receiving the Georges River Art Prize Acquisitive (2023) and being a finalist in the Basil Sellers Art Prize, Hornsby Art Prize, and Ravenswood Australian Women’s Art Prize (2024). She has exhibited extensively, including solo shows at Ditty Wheels Gallery in 2022 and 2024.

"This body of work focuses on my ongoing attraction to seductively shaped ceramics and coloured glassware. Initially drawn towards portraying unpredictable characters and the unexpected relationships between the subjects in my still life sets, I have subsequently found equal delight in the shadows these objects cast and the abstract shapes of light captured within their forms. As a mother of six children including two stepsons, and having just completed a Bachelor of Fine Art at the National Art School in 2024, I continue to be obsessed with shapely vessels, reflecting the importance of the female form and of being an effective role model for my family."
