Studio visit with Amelia Herbertson
Last week I visited the home and studio of the very talented Amelia Herbertson. I was super excited about this one because I've seen pictures of her studio before and its just so darn pretty! Morning sunlight flooded a small room out the back of the old general store/butchers shop which Amelia calls home. French doors open onto a generous patio covered in potted succulents and other flowers which, in the warmer months, would be a sea of lush green vine. Needless to say, it's easy to see where Amelia finds her inspiration. Amelia's studio is dotted with remnants of her childhood like vintage books and a collection of old thimbles, amongst them sit jars of printing rollers and paint brushes. The two family dogs sit at the back door waiting for some loving, one timidly and the other not so timidly. So there you go, I've painted a nice verbal image for you but the real visuals are always better, especially when I'm the one describing the scene......
