Sarah Randall, Horse Blankets, Oil on board, 70x70cm framed.

Sarah Randall is an artist based in Orange, NSW. Her work is informed by a Bachelor of Creative Arts, Wollongong in 2013, Masters Fine Art (coursework), RMIT in 2015 and Grad Cert of Art History, from the University of Melbourne. She has completed residencies in Tasmania, Thailand, Vietnam, South Korea and Ireland where her paintings have been collected publicly and privately. In 2018, she exhibited as an Australian artist in the Jeonnam International Sumuk Biennale (Mokpo, South Korea), following a residency in the Bank of Fishermen Building. In 2019, she was a finalist in the Calleen Art Prize, STILL in 2021, as wells the Lloyd Rees Memorial Youth Art Award.

This series of plein air paintings explores the space between mankind and natural occurrence. It draws from the environment at Murwillumbah, portraying rural landscapes, farmland and distinctive forms unique to this place. Despite this control we have on our environment, nature has a persistent, soft resistance to defy our intentions. The way forward for us is a negotiation.

Anne-France Fulgence, Abraham’s Bosom Beach, Oil on canvas, 42x42cm framed.

When the day’s first bars of sunlight catch the meandering creek flowing into the ocean at Abrahams Bosom Beach, at Currarong, on the NSW South Coast, they set the colours on fire – the glowing rusted tannins reminiscent of the red earth of the Outback. All is still at this early hour.

Anne-France (“A-F”) Fulgence revels in dramatic compositions. She is an established contemporary Australian artist, living and working in Kangaroo Valley, NSW, who has been professionally exhibiting her work for the past 20 years. A-F (as she prefers to be called) works quickly and without revision.

“My painting is like a poetic tale, moody, evocative, atmospheric. The fiery dusk, a lone cloud, the heavy valley fog, the amazing light, the colours and shadows, the vast silence over an ancient landscape – this is what inspires me to paint.”

Born in Morocco, A-F studied in France before moving to Australia in 1989. She attributes her sense of drama and wild romanticism to her French ancestry. Her vision, palettes and techniques are inspired by the French poet Victor Hugo, and the work of the 19th-century artists Gustave Courbet, William Turner and John Constable.

Susan Romyn, Tablelands, Ceramic - white raku, 40x40x24cm.

Art has been my special thing…for all of my life…and due to a series of fortunate events…I have been able to live my life with it as my compass. My family has been the wind…love my map… and life my driving force.

My art reflects the connections within society and my world.... thoughts and observations of the more simple things. Mixed into this is a keen sense of whimsy , where I can produce works that reach out and touch people. My work has a narrative edge, expressing an idea or story to enhance my connection to this world.

I have come to Ceramics fairly late in my artistic career, delving into Printmaking, Painting and Silversmithing for the last 30 years in a full time capacity….and felt clay was a natural step into a 3 dimensional way to explore my narratives. It is safe to say that I am obsessed and have found a medium where all of my disciplines can happily sit and play together nicely. I have found my happy place.

Melinda Giblett, Held By This Ancient Folded Land (Spring Blooming), Oil on polyester, 69x64cm framed.

Melinda Giblett is an Australian artist whose paintings navigate ancient landscapes seeking the unique qualities of land and Country. She revels in the transformative effects of working directly from life; seeking to preserve the significance of landscapes through her practice.

Melinda is known for her expressive paintings and drawings of Australian deserts and bush-her process locating intimate visual splendour in the unexpected. With gestural yet gentle brushwork she embraces chance in the act of making marks, pursues the revelatory possibilities of colour and finds equilibrium between sparsity and abundance.
Melinda is a graduate of COFA-UNSW-College of Fine Arts (UNSW Art & Design) and has undertaken significant residencies at Bundanon, Broken Hill and Italy. Melinda is represented by galleries in Sydney, Canberra and in the regions of NSW. Her work is held in international and private collections across Australia.

‘Ancient folding, lifting Arkose tablecloth, iron infused sandstone…only the dense survived.’

This work began on country in Ikara (Flinders Ranges- South Australia) in sketches, colour studies and words. It delights in ancient geological formation, harnesses the power and distortion of memory, and firmly locates the outback as both a personal and communally significant 'place' through the felt experience of being on country.
