Ann Howe designs and creates wheel thrown and hand built functional and decorative ceramics in her studio in Inner West Sydney. Every piece is completely unique and explores the ideas of nurture, community and sharing in daily life.

Ann has always been interested in ceramics, and crafting with her hands has always been a natural part of her life. Her journey making with clay began more than 6 years ago when she began wheel throwing porcelain, and an instant connection was made. Creating objects with clay is a demanding but also transformative experience and Ann is drawn to the endless possibilities that clay represents.

Functional pottery supports and represents our intimate rituals of nourishment and celebration, and the connection a piece of clay, moulded, shaped and formed by the artist’s hand to become an beautiful object that become’s a part of someone’s daily life is a deeply personal and rewarding experience.
