Jacqui Sosnowski is a retired university tutor, marketing professional and now, a full-time ceramicist. She is fascinated by the raku technique, and in particular, obvara, which is an ancient Baltic surface treatment which uses only the natural ingredients of flour, water and yeast to create beautiful organic patterning.The unpredictability of both raku and obvara is what keeps her interested. No two pieces are ever the same. All her work is stoneware clay, bisque fired to 1000C and then Obvara or Raku fired in Jacqui’s gas raku kiln. Vases are waterproofed for use.
