Precarious is a response to the bushfires that raged across NSW in the summer of 2019-20 and the preceding drought. It explores the loss of native bushland, water sources, crops and other landscapes. In a changing climate the health of our country is both precarious and precious.

Lea Is currently undertaking a Master’s in Contemporary Art Practices at the ANU School of Art and Design. She has been the recipient of the ANU Boronia award for excellence, the Craft ACT Emerging Contemporaries Award with Craft ACT, the 3D award at the QPRC Art Prize 2023, the Doug Alexander Award 2021 from the Canberra Potters and is a finalist in the national Klytie Pate Ceramics Award 2023. Her work has been included in a number of group shows in the ACT, Victoria and NSW.

Lea explores notions of place and use of land in her practice. Her work investigates the layers of human and non-human impact on the landscape. Through the marks and traces of what existed before now and what remains, it considers how land use and land control change a place. What do we know of who or what is impacted, who benefits and what is lost.

Artwork is available for collection or shipping after the closing date of the exhibition, November 5th 2023.

We charge a flat rate of $35 for all artworks within Australia, with an additional $5 added for each extra artwork purchased through our online store. All artworks are insured and come safely packaged. Any artwork marked for CUSTOM SHIPPING is either too large, too heavy or too delicate to ship with our flat rate and will need a custom shipping invoice.
