Dee Roberts
Dee Roberts is inspired by the natural setting of her Oberon home and a childhood in Central NSW on a rural property at Nevertire . The strong seasonal changes of the Central Tablelands provide an abundance of colours, textures & changing light patterns that are the focus of her paintings . This collection is capturing the spring garden bursting into flower, the post drought fecundity producing a kaleidoscope of colours. Painting plein air allows Dee to be immersed in the sensory surrounds of her garden observing the fleeting light & chromatic variations.
Dee has exhibited at Corner Store Gallery, Lion Gate Gallery at Sydney Botanical Gardens, Be Brave Art Space at Avalon, Bathers Pavilion Gallery at Balmoral , Willoughby Art Centre & Gallery 360 at Northbridge. Dee has been a finalist in the Ewart Art Prize four times & in the Waverley Woollahra 9x5 Landscape prize.
Dee paints full time now, working previously as a conservator mostly at Sydney’s Powerhouse Museum, plus Hazelhurst Regional Gallery, Sydney University Art Gallery & with a private paintings conservator. Dee has a Bachelor of Applied Science, plus long term engagement with the study of visual arts including drawing, painting, ceramics & printmaking at NAS, TAFE & Willoughby Art Centre.
