Perfumery until now has been very secret business. Most of us wear it and have early childhood memories of what our mothers and grandmothers wore.
Smell, one of our five senses, is often overlooked – you now have the opportunity to bring your nose up to speed and actually become a nose for an afternoon!
Learn how to describe what you like in fragrance and which fragrance families are your preferences. Learn to recognize the ingredients in some of these.
A very practical, hands on class focusing on designing and making your own fragrance to take with you.
I will guide your olfactory bulb through 30-50 raw materials and after we will put together a perfumers brief and you can then compound your own fragrance!
Numbers are limited so as you have plenty of time to create and ask questions and maximize learning potential.
Recommended for 16 years and over.
Ainslie Walker teaches the workshop. Ainslie grew up in Orange and studied naturopathy in Sydney before living in London for 15 years. There she worked in high end spa’s developing skincare and subsequently worked with perfumers who helped her realize her childhood dream of becoming a perfumer herself! Since arriving back in Australia she has quickly become the go to of all things scent related – recently developing a online scent platform, Scentsmith, winning fragrance journalism awards and collaborating with leading Australian brands to develop scent for products and branding. She also regularly showcases her olfactory art projects including an immersive collaboration with artist and photographer Tamara Dean and at MONA in Tasmania.
PLEASE NOTE: due to the nature of these workshops we cannot refund your ticket if cancelled after 15/03/2017, however we are happy for you to pass your ticket on to someone else.
