Sarah is an artist based on the South Coast of NSW who takes strong inspiration from her surrounding landscape. She often paints en plein air and is accompanied by her children who regularly join in with the painting. One of her favourite subjects to immortalise is the ocean, in particular the many ways it meets the land.

Turbulence is a gouache painting depicting a stormy sea crashing onto the sand. I am always mesmerised by the repetition and patterns of waves as they rush towards shore then slowly retreat over and over again. This particular scene was following three days straight of rain on Racecourse beach, so the water was very dark and turbulent.
