Jane Chacana is a self taught artist based in Katoomba in the Blue Mountains. She enjoys creating paintings of the local area, both the built and natural environment, with a particular interest in the local birdlife.

Creating art has always been a part of her life, starting in early childhood where picture books encouraged day dreaming and provided endless inspiration.

Golden Eastern Spinebill depicts a small honeyeater native to the Greater Blue Mountains region, painted in a decorative style. During Spring 2024, a pair of spinebills became regular visitors to the garden, often darting through the bushes at speed and eventually setting up home on a neighbouring property. This event inspired the painting.
