Alex Watts is an artist based in Naarm (Melbourne) whose work is focused on the interplay of light and shadow. She is focused on conveying feeling, mixed with transitory experiences to create a sense of movement and change. Whether she is depicting a fleeting moment, capturing a moment of peace or the passing of time, her goal is to imbue her work with a sense of impermanence and serenity, inviting the viewer to linger and fully experience the mood of the painting.

Through her work, Alex encourages us to find quiet joys in the little things that make up our daily routines. By carefully considering the use of light, shadow and how it falls across the subject matter she hopes to create paintings that are both visually striking and emotionally resonant.
