Sydney-based fine artist Karin Mizuno, explores the everyday objects that inhabit her domestic space, bridging the gap between the traditional still life and her Japanese heritage. Her artistic practice endeavours to capture the essence of these seemingly mundane items, transforming them into a visual narrative that resonates with a deep sense of comfort and cultural identity. Drawing from her Japanese heritage, she finds inspiration in the inherent beauty and functionality of everyday objects, imbuing them with a sense of significance that might often go unnoticed. Her paintings become a bridge between the past and the present, intertwining the rich cultural tapestry of Japan with the contemporary context of her life in Australia.
