Chris de Hoog is an artist living and working on Wadawurrung Country (Geelong, Victoria). Chris’ work is inspired by the natural world, memory, and colour. His process is to get marks down onto the material (often using leftover paint from a previous piece) and let that determine the direction of the work. In this way, most of his paintings start intuitively, followed by a process of refinement and covering up/removing aspects to bring out something new. He rarely paints from a source such as a photograph, as he finds his inherent perfectionism gets in the way of creating something truly expressive.

Chris was born in Canberra, Australia in 1986. He obtained a Bachelor of Design (Communication Design) from RMIT University in 2009. He has been a practising artist since 2018, exhibiting all over Australia.
In this series he is exploring the use of quick, decisive paint strokes using mostly implements other than a paintbrush. These works conjure up memories of blissful times spent swimming in various waterholes throughout his childhood.

Artwork is available for collection or shipping after the closing date of the exhibition, November 5th 2023.

We charge a flat rate of $35 for all artworks within Australia, with an additional $5 added for each extra artwork purchased through our online store. All artworks are insured and come safely packaged. Any artwork marked for CUSTOM SHIPPING is either too large, too heavy or too delicate to ship with our flat rate and will need a custom shipping invoice.
