Rachel Melchers is a Mudgee based painter, whose work reflects her connection to the earth and the elements. She employs a variety of materials - which may include collage, acrylic, ink and oil paint to create layered and textural works. Her landscapes manifest from her memory of a moment in time – the physical sensations, emotions and visual remembering. Rachel’s paintings do not often represent a specific scene but evolve as the painting progresses. Various elements are drawn together with a focus on colour, form and harmony.

An early morning walk in late Autumn was the inspiration for this work. Recalling the crisp morning air, the clarity of light and the fresh scent of the surrounding bushland, this painting is an expression of feeling as well as seeing. Painted on board, initial layers were applied in acrylic. The top layers were constructed using oil paint applied in layers via brush, palette knife and oil stick.

Artwork is available for collection or shipping after the closing date of the exhibition, September 22nd 2024.

We charge a flat rate of $35 for all artworks within Australia, with an additional $5 added for each extra artwork purchased through our online store. All artworks are insured and come safely packaged. Any artwork marked for CUSTOM SHIPPING is either too large, too heavy or too delicate to ship with our flat rate and will need a custom shipping invoice.
