Jan fills her handmade travel diaries with crayon, pencil or torn paper sketches and notes, either plein air or at day's end. These are then rendered in Jan's Rozelle studio, drawing on inspiration from her diaries and memories of moments, aromas, the environment, weather and emotions.

Using coloured papers and applying luscious Caran d'Ache oil crayons, Jan tears shapes leaving the edges of the coloured papers dancing with the dense crayon to create vibrant collages.
The collages are pasted on art board and sealed with varnish.
