Chris Proctor is an artist originally from England but had called Australia home for the last 8 years. Often using a combination of found wood, mis-tinted, unwanted house paints and old brushes, he aims to create artworks that breathe new life into what others no long have a use for.

This painting captures a moment of solitude and freedom, as a bird soars above vast landscapes of trees and mountains. The bird, suspended in the open sky, represents both resilience and longing—a creature bound by instinct yet untethered from a singular place.

The title, “I Am a Long Way from Home”, speaks to a universal human experience: the feeling of being distant from where we belong, whether physically, emotionally, or spiritually. The painting reflects on the journey of searching, adapting, and finding meaning in the spaces between departure and arrival.
