Jules is an emerging landscape painter who draws inspiration from her farming background and her journeys through the outback. She creates work reflecting on her experiences in these places. While inspired by nature, Jules' work often develops into an otherworldly interpretation, as she leans away from purely representational painting.
This work depicts a superficial naive view of the outback that tourists retain from their experience. I wonder how the beauty of the outback masks its secrets and history, the country's real identity. We need to view these landscapes with context. We need to look past the superficial and be witnesses to our history and the truth.
