I am an emerging artist, with an art practice that includes a range of media, including acrylics, watercolour and printmaking. I take inspiration from the coastal landscape around Victoria’s Great Ocean Road, as well as more diverse landscape from travels across Australia. I love to paint expressively and sometimes abstractly to capture the feeling, colour and detail of locations. This small painting is based on a sunset view of a rock formation known locally as "The Sphinx" near Ross River in the East MacDonnell Ranges. It is painted from photos taken while on an art trip to the area. The scene has been greatly simplified to focus in on the lovely contrast of the rocks glowing in the setting sun, against the vast area of spinifex in the foreground.
